Sacramento has talent — everywhere, everyday, and for everyone to enjoy. In celebration of National Arts and Humanities Month, artists, arts organizations, and arts patrons are making Sacramento arts a major topic of conversation all month.

ARTober was organized as a grass roots effort, supported by  Mayor Kevin Johnson’s For Arts’ Sake Initiative, and area business associations, arts organizations, media, and arts partners. In 2009 Mayor Johnson convened over 450 arts advocates and leaders to develop a regional action plan to help strengthen Sacramento arts. The plan calls for collaborative, innovative efforts to celebrate the creative talents that live in our region. Artober is a direct outgrowth of the plan — and is a leading edge of the implementation.

In October 2014, the effort continues through a partnership of For Arts Sake, the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission, and Sacramento365.com. Sacramento, Yuba, Yolo, Placer, Sutter, and El Dorado Counties will jointly showcase the best of our regional arts as part of the campaign. The ARTober: Fall for the Arts campaign invites visitors of all ages, backgrounds, and interests to connect to Sacramento’s arts, reminding children, families, young professionals, tourists, and seniors that there’s a creative opportunity for everyone!
